Kuvempu Birth Centennial | |
Kuvempu Birth Centennial K.V. Puttappa (pen name Kuvempu) is one of my most favorite writers. I have been deeply inspired by his poems and moved by his graphic novels. This year, Kuvempu's birth centennial is being observed all over Karnataka with much fanfare (and some controversy). The scale of the event is certainly motivated by caste politics. The fans have forgotten his message of universal mankind and are engaging in petty matters. But Kuvempu's genius belongs to all castes and creeds! There hasn't been a more versatile writer of Kannada language. I am compiling a exhibit of rare pictures from our archive to mark the occasion.
