I am opposed to the showing images of poor and destitute to raise funds (even if to help them). IMHO such campaigns are distasteful and immoral.
So, I am not going to point to pictures of poverty or misery in India, which are plenty on our site, but sincerely ask you to donate one hour (just one hour) of your wages for a worthy charity in India.
The name of the charity is Asha, and 100% of your tax-free donations actually go to the cause. I recommend Asha, because I am familiar with them.
Work an extra hour (skip lunch, stay late, arrive early) or work smart (ask for that raise, present your reorganization chart or whatever), but this August, please donate one hour of your wage for India's development.
IMHO, buying from a particular source or clicking on the Hunger Site is not charity. To experience the power of giving, and to fulfil a civil duty, donate the fruits of an hour of your labor. Thank you.
BTW, Asha also accepts inherited wealth ![]()
For those of you who say, "Charity does not solve India's problems", I say "But charity did cure Polio!"
