Recently Amma received TMA Pai Foundation"s award for her book in Konkani entitled "Suragyasar"". The citation says that her efforts in compiling the old (now almost forgotten) wedding songs in preserving Konkani heritage are observed, in her work. One of the judges duly appreciated the work with following remarks. " "Suragyasar" deserves Dr. T.M.A. Pai best Konkani Book Award. Because the author has helped Konkani community to appriciate, preserve and handover this great heritage of Konkani folklore, literary culture to posterity.

"Suragyasar" is a good contribution to Konkani folklore literary heritage and culture. These traditional poems, customs, songs and celeberations on the occasion of weddings and other samskaras are slowely forgotten and discarded by youth- present generation. Most people donot understand them and therefore cannot appreciate them. Dr. Jyothsna Krishnanad Kamat has helped the community to overcome this problem through this her book.

The Author has made a thorough study of our floklore. Through a good introduction to this book she has explained and analysed various aspects of wedding-poems and our custom in this regard. She has aroused our interest in our folklore- heritage through this book.
