Shakti as Mother Goddess
Indians have worshipped "Mother Goddess" or Shakti even before the Indian civilization took shape. Pre-historic art and artifacts have been found to depict feminine divinity in the form of Shakti or Divine Power. In the Hindu tradition, the energy (or Shakti) of even the predominant Hindu Dieties is attributed to the power of the respective consorts and Shakti is sometimes worshiped as the unification of goddesses Lakshi, Saraswati and Parvati.
