Introduction
by Vikas Kamat
One day in the year 2001, as we walked over a bridge near Milk Colony neighborhood in Bangalore, my father, K.L.Kamat pointed me to a young girl studying for school in a shanty-town below. She was sitting outside of her tent, and careless of the drama around her (traffic, cows, pollution), was engrossed in homework. "You know Vikas, I think we need to make a feature on our website about these people who pursue academics even in the face of great adversity" -- he'd said "I even have thought of a name for it: Lust for Learning".
Dad never compiled that feature, but on the occasion of his 70th birth anniversary, in his fond memory I present the following exhibition that I have put together from his picture archive.
