Gurumukhi Language

Gurmukhi is a script primarily used for writing texts of Sikhism. Developed by Guru Angad Dev, the second Sikh Guru, in the 16th century, Gurmukhi means "from the Guru's mouth." It was designed to make reading and writing accessible to the common people. The script consists of 35 letters and follows an abugida system, where consonants are inherently paired with a vowel sound. Gurmukhi is integral to Sikhism, as it is the script in which the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of the Sikhs, is written. Its simplicity and phonetic nature make it an efficient writing system.
