Modern Kannada literature commonly refers to the literary works created in Kannada language at the turn of the 20th century.
B. M. Srikantaiah ('B.M.Sri'), regarded by some as the "Father of modern Kannada literature", gave the call for writing originals in modern Kannada language and paved way for modern works of novels, poetry and short stories.
