Kamat lived in the village of Plassey in West Bengal during the years 1969-70. He was struck by the beauty of the land, the culture of the people and the all pervading poverty. His memoirs of Bengal were published as "Vanga-Darshana" in 1972. Here, Kamat the photographer depicts the village he called home in early part of his career. -- Ed.
