The town of Srirangapatna (a.k.a. Srirangapattana,Seringapatam and other variations of spelling in Indian history) is an island in Mandya district surrounded by river Kaveri. The town is of historical and cultural importance, and is a place of tourist interest due to the number of monuments. Many tourists who come to Mysore visit Srirangapatna due to its proximity to Mysore and the bird sanctuary of Ranganatittu.
