Town of Dhareshwar

The town of Dhareshwar is located between the towns of Honavar and Kumta in Uttara Kannda District. The legend has it that when Rawana tried to unseat the holy Atma-linga the anointing piece landed in this place and there is a famous temple that contains the piece and is widely worshipped.
