Photographer Samuel Bourne

Samuel Bourne (1834-1912), traveled extensively across the Indian sub-continent photographing landscapes, buildings, and historical places. Subsequently he established  The Company of Bourne and Shepherd with entrepreneur  Charles Shepherd and Calcutta, and began selling his photographs of India. Many European travelers to the Indian subcontinent bought and collected them, and those albums are fine resources of photographic evidence of life and sights of India during the period.
