V.V. Patil
Mr. V.V.Patil was born at Masur, in 1888. Early in life he lost his father who was noble to his hearts core. He matriculated in 1911 and graduated with a B.Sc in tthe year1922.

In 1936 he founded the Lingayat Education Society with the aid of his enthusiastic friends. This institution is founded on the principle of sacrifice. He served the institution for fourteen years as a teacher and later as a Head Master. He started the first Harijan Free Boarding in Karnatak.
In 1930 he began his active political life. He conducted the No-tax campaign in the Dharwar District, and won unstinted price for his resourceful leadership. As a result of the agitation the Taluka got a remission of Rs. 40,000 and an equal amount was suspended.
In 1932 he was arrested and sentenced to five months rigorous imprisonment. The news of the critical condition of his wife and daughter haunted his mind in prison. With a stout heart he bore all privations.
