Jinabhai J. Joshi

Mr. Joshi was born at Surat, August 18th 1883. He began his career as a clerk in solicitors office. In response to Gandhiji's call he resigned that post and collected Rs. 5000 for the Sabarmati Ashram. He was the Director of the second War Council. In 1930 he was imprisoned.

As the President of the Swadeshi League he rendered valuable services. Again he was clapped in prison and released when the Gandhi-Irwin pact was signed. He was elected one of the Vice Chairman of the Reception Committee of the Bombay Congress. He is the founder of the Gujarat Vyayama Mandal and is a member of the Managing Committee of the depressed classes Mission Society.

He possess in a rare degree uncompromising sincerity and passion faith in the teachings of Gandhiji.
