Champaklal Jeriksondas Ghia
Dr.Ghia was born at Surat, May 1889. He earned the L.M & S. degree of the Bombay University.
His patriotic embers were kindled in the Bengal partition days. In 1907 he was a volunteer in the Surat Congress. In his college days he organized strikes and took active part in student movements.

In 1920 he resigned his government post as a protest against the Punjab wrongs. For a decade he was a President of the Surat Congress Committee. In1923 he was the Captain of the Nagpur Flag Satyagraha Volunteer Corps. He was arrested and sentenced to one year's imprisonment.
He was elected to the A.I.C.C in 1923.Since 1921 he is a member of the Surat Municipality. in the capacity of a "Vibagpati" he rendered very valuable services in the Bardoli struggle. He has awakened the political consciousness of the youth as the president of the Surat Youth League. Twice he was elected as Chairman of the Surat Municipal School Board.
In 1930-32 he took part in the Civil Disobedience Movement and was sentenced twice to eight months and two and a half years imprisonment. He is the President of the Harijan Sevak Sangh and is a member of the Bombay Medical Council.
Dr.Ghia's career is a brilliant record of disinterested service. He has no only cured men of their bodily ailment but has turned their face towards freedom's light. Hence he commands our high esteem.
He represents the Surat and Rander City Constituencies in the assembly.
