The political career of Mr. Desai is a success for his personality. It has also given ample evidence of foresight and ingenuity.
He was born at Bombay, January 18th 1899. His father died when he was a child. His schooling was irreregular and not quite adequate.

He represents an honest steadfastness of purpose. He is a member of the B.P.C.C from a long time. Since 1933 he is its General Secretary. in 1934 he was elected a General Secretary of the Indian National Congress. Also he is a member of the Bombay Municipal Corporation.
He is a stern fighter, unbending and uncorruptable. During the Civil Disobedience Movement he courted imprisonment five times. Several times in his efforts to shield others he was severely treated to the baton.
His favorite hobby is hand spinning. The sport of Cricket is his pastime. He believes that the present Congress Ministry is an inestimable boon to the peasant and on its success depends their future weal.
In person he is of medium stature, of bright complexion and broad forehead, as an enemy severe and unforgiving and as a friend just faithful, his unshakable determination and tireless energy have justified the high regard with which he is held.
