Mahabaleshwar, Ganpati Bhatt Gopi

Mr. M.G.Gopi was born at Gokarn in 1892. He was educated at the Fergusson College, Poona. He is the manager of a very big joint family consisting of about sixty members and paying assessment of about Rs. 4,500. He is the Vice President of the Gokarn Municipality for the last six years. He was the President of the District Local Board for two terms. He is the president of the Temple Committee, for Kumta and Ankola Talukas. He is the President, Building Committee, Shree Mahabaleshwar temple, Gokarn.

His public activities are varied and many sided. He helped the Congress in organizing the No-Tax Campaign. He is the President and Treasurer of the Gokarn Congress Committee. His administrative abilities are praiseworthy.

Gopi Bhatt is  loved and esteemed for his benign nature. He is elected to the Assembly from the Kanara District Constituency.
