Appaji Yashwant Kate
Appaji Yashwant Kate was born at Bhigwan, June 24th 1889. He was born of a very aristocratic Maratha family and was brought under the sheltering care of his relative, Mr. Dhumal, Accountant General.
At an early age he evinced keen interest in National movements. Since 1911 he is a member of the Taluka and district Local Boards. His leadership of the district Board is chiefly remembered for its unprecedented progress.

He is endured himself tot eh people by is unremitting toil in the cause of the poor. He has extended his patronage to the Ayurvedic Dispensary and the Maratha Educational Department.
For some years he was the president of the District Union Society and the Poona District Agricultural Society. He ahs evoked permanent affection by his services to the depressed Classes. He ceaselessly worked in the Congress electioneering.
Mr. Kate is the only person in Maharashtra belonging to Watendar Patil family, who took an active part in the national struggle, undaunted by the threats the Government.
He represents the Poona East General Rural Constituency in the assembly. His fame is founded securely on the progressive impulse he has given to all reform movement. He has sponsored numerous measures for promoting the public weal.
