Letter to Registrar of Indian Institute of Science

I found the draft of this letter addressed to the Registrar of the Indian Institute of  Science in Bangalore. Apparently the Registrar is asking for  authentic, commercial quality invoices and receipts from K.L. Kamat for services rendered at the Scientific Photo Lab.. Kamat usually handwrote or typed the receipts on a letterhead. I think only a courageous and straight-forward businessman can write such a letter to what was his only customer at that time.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your above mentioned two letters. In this regard, I want to bring to your kind notice that I undertake Scientific Photography as a service to the scientific community of Bangalore, and not as a commercially run business. I do not wish to get involved in this service to issue invoices, bills, or adhere to your "approved forms".

I understand your difficult position due to the pressures of Government notifications and guidelines from auditors. I regret that the only solution for you is to advise your faculty and researchers not to seek my services.

Yours sincerely,

(K.L.Kamat)
