Heritage Groups Inventory Tsunami's Effect on Cultural Sites

Title:Heritage Groups Inventory Tsunami's Effect on Cultural Sites
Author:Murdoch, James
Publication:Architectural Record / McGraw-Hill
Enumeration:Vol. 193, Issue 2, p26, 1/4p., Feb 2005
Abstract:This article reports that officials with world heritage groups are beginning to take stock of cultural sites in Southeast Asia damaged or destroyed by recent tsunami. The World Monuments Fund (WMF), which provides financial assistance to preserve cultural sites, confirms that while several important cultural sites could be destroyed, not all the news is bad. A WMF site in Malacca, Malaysia, is also undamaged, and it appears the Sun Temple of Konanak, a 13th-century temple on the Bay of Bengal in India, sustained only minor damage.
