Abstract:Sosale in T Narasipura is a centre of the Madhwas, having the Vyasaraya Matha, and was a centre of Saptamatrika worship having the Honnadevi temple as the centre. The newely discovered Nisidi slab assigned to 5th century in Kannada script and sanskrit language says that Gunasena became a nigrantha by giving up his robes as well as his life by doing the sallekhana vrata. By this act of his Sosale became a nigrantha teertha, a holy place for the Jains.
