| Abstract: | The paper is an effort to study the place and its importance of Kukke Subramanya, famous pilgrimage centre in Dakshina Kannada. Subramanya,a centre of Naga (serpent) worship has been described in Subramanya Kshetrapurana, a part of Skand Purana.The place is also mentioned for the first time in the 9th century inscrption from Bantra.Other six inscriptions also speak about this god.
