Kannada is one of Indias oldest languages with a rich tradition. The modern iiom, however is hardly 60 years old and in this, too Kannada has some outstanding works to its credit such as - Dr. Shivaram Karanth, Bendre, K.V Puttappa, Girish Karnad etc.
