Abstract:A variety of hand embroideries are practised by the different communities of Rajasthan: the embroidered ghagras and odhnis of the Jat women of Sikar and Jhunjhunu area; the red woollen odhnis of the Jat women of Bikaner; the fine embroidery on the ghagras and odhnis of the Meos of Alwar district; the rich and varied embroidery of Jaisalmer; the batuas, horse-saddles, navli, ralli (quilt), clothes, and domestic articles; leather embroidery; armoury; and gold embroideries (kamdani, zardozi, karchop, and gota work).
