Abstract:The dance of the Hill Savaras of Koraput and Ganjam districts in Orissa is like a procession which escorts something or someone. Its religious and ritualistic character is emphasized by the incidents which occur during its course. Apart from the regular dances, there are special dances on occasions such as weddings, the Guar ceremony for the dead, and various curative rites.
