Abstract:All unmarried boys and girls of the Muria villages in Bastar (Madhya Pradesh) are members of the ghotul (dormitory), and assigned important duties on social occasions. The ghotul fosters art forms: combs, tobacco boxes, necklaces, pendants, belts of beads and cowries, carvings, toys, and masks. Dancing is an important aspect of ghotul life.
