Traditions: Paragons of Performance India and Greece: Connections and Parallels, edited by Saryu Doshi

Abstract:There is a possibility that the tradition of Classical Greek theatre was active in ancient India. Some scholars have pointed out a few similarities. A few rock-cut amphitheatres are also found in India, suggesting Greek influence. If Classical Greek plays were performed in India, they seem to have left no impact on local theatre traditions, classical or folk. No concrete evidence seems to exist in the field of sculpture or in the form of Gandharan art.
