| Abstract: | The Buddha images at Ajanta and Ellora show little change in treatment through the decades, and conform to two basic types -- cross-legged, and with feet firmly planted on the ground. However, his retinue developed from few sedate attendents in the beginning to larger and more elaborate groups.
