Subhas Chandra Bose's Position vis-a-vis Germany Before World War II

Title:Subhas Chandra Bose's Position vis-a-vis Germany Before World War II
Author:Weidemann D.
Publication:Asien Afrika Latinamerika / Carfax Publishing
Enumeration:vol. 30, no. 4, pp. 317-329,January 2002
Abstract:Due to his radical nationalism and his ambivalent position in the question of use of force in the freedom struggle, and not least because of his connections with the Axis powers during World War II, Subhas Chandra Bose was one of the most fascinating and at the same time most controversial personalities of the Indian nationalist movement, and many myths have kept his picture still vague. Based on the files of the German Foreign Office, the article tries to clear Bose's position vis-a-vis Nazi Germany just before World War II, a period which was decisive for his perception of India's international environment but which so far has not found much attention.
