Whether you have something to say or not, just use this, 'cause its your space!

You are confusing two things here. Kamat.com, the site, which is maintained by Vikas Kamat and is absolutely fantastic. It has the half a million visitors and is great. But most of the content there comes from late Dr. Kamat and Jyotsna Kamat for whom I can not find enough words to praise. They have created what is possibly the best Indian site.
But Kamat the weblog is another creature. It lacks the empathy, the research, the wisdom and the inteligence which makes kamat.com a great site. It is opinionated crap from vikas. I do not mind opinionated crap, but coming from someone who lacks knowledge is unbearable. I think it is a great example of how not to write a blog. I would personally rate your blog, fulltp and bhask much higher.
(some examples of vikas kamat's stupidity:
1. declaring blogger dead based on a year old article.
2. bollywood is crap...
3. cursing everything microsoft.
4. thinking scripting.com is ideal blog. anyone who has been in the blogland long enough knows how badly he sucks.
Sorry for the tone of the comment but you thinking that kamat is a blog of note really got on my nerves.

Atul, I really meant the whole Kamat offering. I have realised that much of the information in the history, culture and photography sections were the the handicraft of Dr Kamat.

The reason why www.kamat.com takes a lot of hits : There is a lot of stuff related to indian culture / tradition on that site ... so you search for that in google and this site shows up somewhere near the top. That is where he gets his visitors.

As atul has pointed out, the weblog is not even worth visiting once in a month, forget about one and a half million times

one more thing that I want to second atul on : scripting news is the definition of crap. It is not a weblog : just one guy pushing his own strategy on and on like a broken CD. It is an egolog. That site seems to me to be a perfect portrayal of everything that is wrong with america. Sorry for that brash political statement but I couldnt help it ..

as for the kamat content crowbot, FC would tell you that with just pure html you can create magic. The words matter not the pen.

sorry for the tone of comment but like atul said : just the fact you mentioned kamat as a blogger of note made me write all this.

arun : do you have the view that all successfull people are worthy of their success ? arent there exceptions to that rule and arent we allowed to critisize them ? or will you look at every criticism of a successfull guy as a simple case of jealousy ?

anita : I have no problem with vikas writing whatever he wants on his site .. Afterall, it is his site ... It was when you called him a noteworthy blogger that I got a little bit peeved .. He has a remarkable site (no doubts on that ) but not a worthy blog. Blogging is a different ball game all together. Please differentiate between a normal website and a blog.

I have already said more than enough. Time to shut up :)

shrEyan : better
svaDharmO : (that which is) induced by the true nature (of one's self)
viguNAh: (even if) imperfectly done.

Better that which is induced by the self. If you understand that you will not look beyond a person or his actions. You accept him, his work, as is.

If there is something to be told to someone, give it as a feedback to *that* person. It is futile (I am being polite here) to rate his site outside of _his_ place. I guess kAmat does have a mail-me link.

Opinions are welcome in blogging and blogcommenting. No ratings, I hope. That is, to me, unsaid aesthetics of blogging. Aside there are dedicated men/women and machines that do the rating stuff and post that as a blog!

Well, Thanx Arun, for changing the mood of the comments with the 'J' stuff ! ;-- )

[I hope I have not painted 'a white robe, ring above the head' picture of myself ! I am just not worth virtues in real life ! ]

FC : nice explanation .. Like I have already said once, I have no issues with kamat saying whatever he wants ... My issue was with anita complimenting his blog ... So I think, I made my comment in the right place ...

and as for ratings and comparisons, we humans will never be free from them however hard we try ..

fc,
i was giving a feedback to anita, that is why i wrote here. one gives feedback to people who you care about.... that is why i am not bothered to write to anyone who writes a crap blog.

fc,
your logic is wrong too. would that mean that instead of criticizing POTO on your site you should be writing to all people concerned there, i am sure they would have sites too.
the great thing about the web is that I can express my opinion on my site and theoretically get it read by anyone who "wants" to read it.
look at it as *I* am expressing something about "anita getting confused about something" which she agrees on the home page. the purpose of the conversation is served.
now by your logic you should have written to *me* to give me a feedback on not giving a feedback on this page and i should have written to you ..... you get the picture...

dunno! 8-(

I was among the first to see the post (going by the zero comments). It looked to me a very natural post by Anita - talking about blogs, bringing blogs to other's notice. It was more of an 'informative' post (If I may say so). You are free to go to the site and see if it suits your likings or not.

hmm.. I do not know if what I wrote is write ... will take a break from this...

Like you said, Kamat.com is an excellent indian website. Most of all I like the AdhikPrasangi thing, because that's what I am ;-- )

But his blogs lack depth and "wit"th. Sometime back he wrote "...it turns out OK mean All Correct...."

Turns out??? I knew that thing when I was in high school in India maan...it becomes humourous despite his lack of humour.

Regarding the million+ hits, most people reach there by searching for "Ghandi". So I assume they reach there by mistake.

Anyway, doing is more important than doing well. And Vikas Kamat is doing something. Lets appreciate that.
