Biography: Malgouda Pungouda Patil
Mr. M.P. Patil was born at Sankeshwar, February 4th 1901. He took the B.A. and L.L.B degrees of the Bombay University and is practicing as a pleader. In 1928 he was elected President of the Taluka Board Hukkeri. He was also a member of the Belgaum District Board. Then he joined the Indian Territorial Force and rose to the rank of a Lieutenant. Hw was awarded kings commission. K.L. Kamat/Kamat's Potpourri In 1930 he resigned his post and joined the Civil Disobedience Movement. He imprisoned for a month. He successfully organized the Campaign in Karnatak. He was the chairman of the Reception Committee of the Karnatak Political Conference held at Hukkeri. Then he became a member of the A.I.C.C In 1932 he was arrested under the Ordinances and sentenced to three years of imprisonment. After his release he did excellent propaganda work. He is elected to the Assembly form the Belgaum North Constituency. He is one of the Parliamentary Secretaries. He is a man of resolute optimism. He has unflinchingly obeyed the call of duty. His manly independence and his sacrifices for his political faith cannot be soon forgotten by his countrymen. Source: Haripura Congress Souvenir, 1938
