Biography: Chandulal
Dr. Chandulal was born in 1882. As a student he stepped into the political fray. In the Bengal Partition days he composed some national songs, which are popularly sung even now. He proceeded to England] for specialization in Dentistry. There he came into a live contact with the exiled Indian revolutionaries. After his return he became one of the tried lieutenants of Tilak, whose dynamic influence weaned him way from the path of violence. He infused into him the spirit of disinterested service.
K.L. Kamat/Kamat's Potpourri Dr. Chandulal set up his practice at Bombayand very soon acquired unique reputation. On the advice of Gandhiji he went to Broach where he started a free dental clinic. It has now developed into an incomparable medicine mission and is rendering aid to the poor. Since 1920 the doctor is always seen in the rear- guard of freedom's battle. He led the Broach Batch in the Nagpur Flag Satyagraha and was imprisoned thrice in the Non cooperation movement. When Gujarat was ravaged by floods he organized relief work. He played a prominent role in the Bardoli Satyagraha. For many years he is the President of the District Congress Committee and the member of the A.I.C.C. Dr. Chandulal has greatly enriched the spiritual exchequer of mankind. He has taken the nation for his home and has done beneficent acts in plentifully as the wind scatters leaves in autumn.
