Biography: Govind Hari Deshpande
He was born on September 28th, 1903, at Nasik. He graduated from the Tilak National University. For a decade he was the Secretary of the Nasik District congress Committee, of which he is at present the President. He was also a Secretary of the M.P.C.C. He is a noted orator of Maharashtra province.
K.L. Kamat/Kamat's Potpourri He is a born agitator. He organized peasants movement in Baglan Taluka against oppressive land tax. As a result of the agitation, the increased land revenue was leveled down. He was the President of the Nasik District Youth League, and was the Chairman of the Reception committee of the Nasik District Youth Conference in 1929. In the Ram Rath and Temple-entry Satyagrahas, he actively assisted the Harijans. In the first Civil Disobedience Movement he was the President of the First War council of the Nasik DCC and was sentenced to nine months rigorous imprisonment. In the second Civil Disobedience Movement, he was imprisoned to 18 months rigorous imprisonment. He represents Nasik West General Rural Constituency in the Mumbai Assembly.
