Abstract: | The Phoot (solo), Joodi (duet), and Mela (group) dances of Mayurbhanj Chhau developed through the stages of rangbaja, chali, nacha, and natki. The music is inspired by folk and Orissi songs, and the ragas and raginis of Hindustani classical music. The rhythm is provided by various percussion instruments.
