Obituary: H.V. Savitramma

(via private phone message) Kannada writer-scholar H.V. Savitramma passed away today in Bengaluru. She was 96. Married at the tender age of 11, Savitramma got educated as she educated her children and went on to become a professor. She was a keen student of Kannada and Telugu literature and of Hindu epics, Ramayan and Mahabharat. Savitramma had a magnetic personality and people were drawn to her intelligence, scholarship, and generosity. We have lost a great woman of our times. (Comments Disabled for Now. Sorry!)
