Review of "Slumdog Millionaire" | |
Slumdog Millionaire is actually a good movie about India. Whether or not it is an Indian movie, whether or not it is realistic is
subject to arguments. But it is an excellent movie that blends great drama and
great visuals. The way each question of the quiz show is joined to the unlikely
means by which a slum dweller knows the answer is remarkable. I'd say India is
full of Jamals -- who, during their lifetime have acquired amazing life
experiences and have fantastic stories to tell. What you might miss in the climax of the movie is that Jamal doesn't care
whether he wins the prize. I thought that was beautiful. I know some people in India are upset. These are the same people who were
offended when Indiana Jones was offered monkey's head. Guys, it only a movie!
