Recovering from ASPROX Attack | |
I spent much of the weekend cleaning up after a nasty ASPROX attack that infected our servers. I had some very old code (written in 1995, shows how long this site has been running) that the hacker was able to manipulate via SQL injection. Just so it doesn't happen again, I had to rewrite my code using Visual Studio 2008. Microsoft Doesn't Support its Own Tools What I discovered is that you can use Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 to maintain older versions of ASP.NET applications. I thanked Microsoft for understanding this important needs of ISVs(independent software vendors). But soon I was to learn that ASP.NET 1.1 is not one of the versions supported. So much for building apps for Microsoft platform. You never know when they will go obsolete. See Also: The Amateur Webmaster
