India is 60 It was 60 years ago India became a free nation. A lot of people will argue that India actually became a nation on August 15th 1947 for the first time -- at no point in India's history were all the components that constitute India were under one rule or one single empire. So in my mind, while India is an ancient civilization, the country itself is a very young one.. It was 10 years ago we formally started Kamat's Potpourri website. Read Bappa's introduction dated Aug 15, 1997. Amma has been invited to several functions in Bangalore as a speaker and to hoist the Indian flag. She told me on the phone that she always considered it an honor.
