A Story Behind a Photograph | |
With Amma's help, I am writing captions for a number of unidentified photographs in our collection. Invariably, fascinating stories crop up. © K. L. Kamat
In the village of H.D. Kote, the Government installed a borewell for the benefit of Kadu Kuruba tribals. As the children happily pumped water (shown in the picture above), an wild elephant watched patiently. That night, the elephant tried to operate the pump! The elephant must have been thirtsy, and could not work it. The next morning the pump was found broken and twisted.
