Savita Devi
Mrs. Savita Devi hails from well known musical family of Banaras gharana. Daughter of the late Padmashri Sidheshwari Devi, Savita has not only inherited a rich tradition of classical music but is a vocalist of rare artistry in own her right. From very early age she underwent a long period of comprehensive training under her mother and specialized in thumri, dadra, chaiti, kajari and tappa of Banaras gharana (purab ang). She is also proficient khyal singer and has adopted the style of kirana gharana from her gurus Mani Prasad and Shri Dilip Chandra Vedi. after graduating in arts, Savita Devi studied classical music at Banaras Hindu University and received post graduate degree. She received sangeet alankar from [Pune]. She is the founder of Smt. Sidheshwari devi academy of Indian music, which is carrying forward the "purabang thumari" tradition. Savita Devi is also an accomplished sitarist. She has been honored with number of gold medals, awards and titles by cultural institutions. she has performed at numerous concerts in various parts of country and abroad, which have won her wide acclaim. She has many best sellers to her credit.
