Vasant Narayan Naik
After his release he organized the No-Tax campaign in the Nasik District. He gathered ten thousand peasants and offered mass jungle Satyagraha. He was the President of the Manmad Congress Committee and for two years was the Chairman of the Municipality. He hurried to Patna to render help to the earthquake victims. He presided over the Sinnar Peasants Conference.
Mr.Naik combines in his own self-youthful vigour and passion for freedom. He has devoted himself with unstinted energy to the practical work of organizing the peasant movement. All the artillery of Governmental thunder was leveled at his head. He was warned and threatened. He was clapped in prison. Nothing was of avail to affect his attitude. As a Kisan leader he is devout and exemplary.
Mr.Naik is elected to the Assembly form the Nasik West constituency. He is the youngest Member of Legislative Assembly in the Bombay Legislature. In the Assembly he is the champion of the peasants. His telling speeches are marked by originality.
