Mr. Kamala Shankar Pandya is a magnificent idealist. His giddy flight has stirred the nation's pulse.
He is a very willful force. He is a man of high spirits but is at the bottom the most subtle. He is a dauntless enemy of Imperialism and a devoted solider of the Congress.
A man of culture, of great personal charm, alive to the need of his time, of soaring imagination, all his acts reflect his genuine passion for freedom.
He was born at Rajpipla, October 20th 1904. He was educated at Rajpipla, Valia and Bulsar. He left the Wilson College in 1920 and joined the Non Cooperation movement. In 1924 he graduated from the Gujarat Vidyapith.
In the C.D. Movement he did admirable work. He was an implacable opponent of the Government. He was incarcerated in the Yerawada jail. He is a fervent Socialist and is one of the founders of the All India Socialist Party. He is the Secretary of the Gujarat Socialist Party and the Gujarat Kisan Committee. He is the Vice President of the Panch Mahals District Congress Committee and a member of the All India Kisan Committee.
In 1931 he founded the Gujarat Youth League. He is a member of the Dohad Municipality, School Board and Sanitary Committee. He successfully led the Nasipur Agricultural Tenants Strike for seven months and inaugurated Bhangi movement in Gujarat. He secured for Dohad sweepers eighteen percent increment and other amenities of life.
He crystallized great opposition to the Dummy Ministry. While leading a huge demonstration he was arrested but subsequently released. He was the Chairman of the Second Gujarat Socialist Conference held at Dohad.
He is the idol of the Railway workers of . He edited the daily "Hindustan Prajamitra". He also conducted "Bikar" the first Gujrati Socialist fortnightly.
He has pinned his faith too the Congress. He has always kept his mind on the stretch. He is an improviser in politics.
