Jogendranati Boruah
Mr. Jogendranati Boruah was born in 1890. He was educated at the Collegiate School, Gauhati, where he held many scholarships. He graduated form the Scottish Church College, Calcutta. He took the law Degree from the Ripon Law College.
In 1921 he suspended his flourishing practice and joined the non cooperation movement. He played a prominent role in the Gauhati Congress. In the last elections he defeated his opponent by an overwhelming majority. His sad demise has left a void which still remains to be filled.
He was a dynamic force in Assamese politics. He started many Tea and Insurance companies and was connected with the working of many educational institutions.
As a lawyer he was alert and adroit; prompt to take advantage of every weak opening in is opponents' guard. He was the acknowledged leader of the Gauhati Bar.
His geniality was unimpaired; the edge of his wit was keen and his capacity to appeal to the deeper sympathies of the multitude was proved.
