Gopinath Bordoloi
Mr. Gopinath Bordoloi was born in 1891. In 1911 he graduated from the Scottish Chruch College, Calcutta. He took his M.A degree in 1915. As sportsman he was second to none in the college. In 1916 he was called to the Bar.
The Punjab tragedy shook his faith in British justice. In 1921 he abandoned his practice and organized a net-work of Congress organization all over the province. He was elected the secretary of the District Congress Committee. In 1921 he became a member of the A.I.C.C he courted imprisonment twice during the struggle.
In the Ghauati Congress he worked as the Assistant Secretary of the Reception committee. He was returned to the Provincial Assembly from the South Kamrun constituency. Then he was elected the leader of the Congress Party in the Assembly.
Since a decade he is a member of the Gauhati Local Municipal Boards. He was also elected the Chairman of the Municipal board.
Mr. Bardolai is wedded to Gandhian philosophy. He belives that the work in the councils cannot bring freedom. But it can only supplement the freedom's movement with Civil Disobedience as a deadly weapon in the armoury.
The love for poor with him is abiding passion. He is a sworn optimist and hope shines in him.
